Melissa Murray is the Morning Reporter and Sunday Morning Anchor for KWCH 12 Eyewitness News.
Melissa comes to us after working for two years as a Multimedia Journalist and Weekend Anchor/Producer at WBOY in Clarksburg, West Virginia. There, she covered anything and everything in Marion and Taylor Counties, shooting, editing and writing all of her stories. From city council and county commission meetings to covering cold cases and the state’s drug epidemic, she told hundreds of stories during her time in the Mountain State.
Melissa also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in the foster care system, representing their best interest and giving them a voice in court.
Before her work in West Virginia, she attended the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!) where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Radio/TV – Broadcast Journalism and minored in Spanish and Political Science. Melissa worked on the university’s student-run broadcast program, UCF Knightly News, which allowed her to cover stories in Orlando and beyond. She also served as President of the Eta Theta chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at UCF.
Melissa was born in Florida but grew up in Landisville, Pennsylvania, a small community outside of Lancaster. She is an east coast girl at heart, but is thrilled to be in Wichita, the furthest west she’s ever been!
When she’s not covering stories, Melissa enjoys cheering on her Philadelphia Eagles, cooking, going to the gym, checking out local restaurants, reading and binge-watching the newest Netflix documentary series.
If you see Melissa out in the community, please say hello and pass along the story ideas that are important to you!
