As a person for the people, Desmond hopes you will reach-out with unique stories in the community, ideas, or even a warm welcome by saying “hi” if you spot him in Wichita!

Desmond is no stranger to ICT. He worked for another Wichita television station, before making a few career moves to land at KWCH as a Multimedia Journalist. His mother has Wichita ties too, as a Friends University graduate.

Desmond started his journalism career after graduating from Langston University in Oklahoma, as an associate producer at KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City. He has been in the industry for 10 years working in Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas.

In addition to his experience, Desmond is an award-winning journalist--an OAB Winner for Best Spot News for The Betty Shelby Trial Verdict, Edward Murrow Regional Winner for Continuing Coverage: Shooting Leads to Turmoil in Tulsa Sheriff’s Office, and KAB award placing second for single coverage of the Moore Tornado.

An avid sports fan, Desmond has also covered the Wichita State Shockers magical Final Four run, the NBA Finals, World Series, Dallas Cowboys Training Camp, and Kansas City Chiefs.

When Desmond isn’t chasing news, he serves his community through his fraternity—Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.—mentoring local elementary school students. He is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. Desmond hopes to make an impact with a smile and a handshake. He enjoys dancing, music, and (as a Kansas City, MO native) cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and don’t forget the Oklahoma City Thunder.

As a person for the people, Desmond hopes you will reach-out with unique stories in the community, ideas, or even a warm welcome by saying “hi” if you spot him in Wichita!
