Carolina Loera is currently a producer and multimedia journalist at KWCH 12.

Carolina has been living in Wichita since 2011, and she is proud to call this city her home.

She joined the team back in January as a part-time weekend producer while attending Wichita State University.

Carolina was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico and immigrated to Sun Valley, Idaho when she was 8 years old.

At a young age, she overcame new obstacles, such as learning a new language and adopting a new culture. She knew she could do anything she put her mind to.

Carolina and her family moved to Wichita her sophomore year in high school and she attended Wichita East High.

Since the move, Carolina has enjoyed getting to know her community, volunteering at various places in the community, and becoming part of various organizations throughout high school and college.

Carolina began her journalism career when she attended Butler Community College after high school.

There she was part of the Radio and Television program.

As a broadcast student, she fell in love with telling stories and meeting new people. She had the chance to be a radio host once a week and report on campus stories for the student-run television station.

After graduating from Butler, she continued her education at Wichita State University in the fall of 2017.

That semester, Carolina entered the KWCH newsroom as an intern. She worked closely with producers, learned what happens behind-the-scenes of a newscast. She also had the chance to go out with reporters and turn in packages.

Having that first internship reassured Carolina that broadcast journalism was her passion.

She graduated in May with a Bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in journalism and a minor in Spanish.

When she’s not in the newsroom, Carolina enjoys spending time with her family, watching Netflix and eating ice cream with her daughter, Ari.

Carolina is excited to have the opportunity to work at the job of her dreams in the city she calls home.
