WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) One person is dead after an early-morning garage fire in west Wichita.
Firefighters responded around 7:30 a.m. to a report of a fire in a detached garage in the 4100 block of west Douglas.
When crews arrived, they struggled to get into the garage because it was full of belongings.
After crews got inside, they found one person not breathing. EMS pronounced the person dead at the scene.
Right now, fire officials don't know why the person was inside of the garage at the time of the fire. They're interviewing someone who lives at the home for more information.
Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
