Man arrested after drug-related shooting in SE Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. Wednesday, May 22, 2019

Police arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with a Tuesday afternoon shooting in southeast Wichita.

Officers responded around 2 p.m. for a report of shots fired at a home in the 800 block of south Terrace.

They found a 20-year-old woman who had been shot once in the abdomen. She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released.

Witnesses were able to describe the suspect and Tristyn Cowling was arrested on charges of aggravated battery with deadly weapon, and criminal discharge of a firearm into a dwelling.

Investigators say this was not a random incident and it's believed to be drug related.

One person is critically injured in a shooting reported Tuesday afternoon in the 800 block of South Terrace Drive in southeast Wichita.

This happened a little before 3 p.m. at a scene northwest of Lincoln and Oliver. Eyewitness News reporter Braxton Jones is headed there to gather further information.
