Man dies from injuries in fire at El Dorado refinery

HollyFrontier confirms an employee has died from injuries sustained Monday during in a fire at its El Dorado refinery.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and colleague. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends,” said CEO & President of HollyFrontier Companies George Damiris.

No other injuries were sustained during the fire and all employees and contractors who were on-site at the time have been accounted for.


One person is critically injured in a gas explosion reported Monday morning at a refinery in El Dorado.

Butler County dispatch tells us the incident was reported about 11 a.m. at the HollyFrontier refinery at 1401 Douglas Road in El Dorado.

Dispatch says no one else was hurt and the facility was not evacuated.

Eyewitness News has reached out to the refinery in an attempt to gather further information on what led up to the incident and what caused the explosion.
