WPD seeks additional information in fatal shooting

Wichita police have identified a man killed in a shooting Tuesday afternoon as Raheem Omar.

Police responded to a shots-fired call in the 2800 block of S. Ida at around 3:40 in the afternoon.

Police say Omar went into a business at Hydraulic and Wassell with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

Police have talked with Omar's girlfriend. They say the couple has a history of domestic violence over the last month.

Investigators are still looking into the incident, but say there was a disturbance between the two and he charged toward her. At one point, a window was broken.

Police have not made any arrests.

10:18 p.m.

The Wichita Police Department said a man shot Tuesday afternoon has died from his injuries.

A woman told police she shot the man after he broke out a front window in her home, in the 2800 block of S. Ida.

Police said the man and woman knew one another.

Investigators are still looking into what led up to the shooting.

7:47 p.m.

The Wichita Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a man in critical condition.

Police said a woman called 911 around 3:45 p.m. saying a man she knew broke out the front window of her home, in the 2800 block of S. Ida., and she had fired off a weapon.

Police said the man arrived at the home with friends. After the disturbance and shooting, he drove to the QuikTrip at Wassell and Hydraulic. That's where his friends pulled him from the vehicle and discovered a gunshot wound to his lower body.

The man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said this was not a random incident.

The Wichita Police Department responds to a report of a shooting at Hydraulic and Wassall in south Wichita.

The emergency call was made about 3:40 p.m. Eyewitness News sent a crew to the scene that observed crime-scene tape where police are gathered in a QuikTrip parking lot.
