Man identified in deadly industrial accident

Man dies in industrial accident at Younger & Sons Manufacturing near Viola.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office has identified a 56-year-old man killed in an industrial accident Wednesday.

Emergency crews were called around 2:30 p.m. for a report of a man pinned in a large machine at Younger & Sons Manufacturing, 19223 K # 42 Hwy.

The sheriff's office says Zachary C. Ritchey of Wellington had been working on a machine when he became trapped.

Investigators say other employees were able to reverse the device and free the man, but he died on the scene.

Deputies say the victim was an employee of a company that does maintenance on the machines at Younger and Sons Incorporated.

One person is dead following an industrial accident at a manufacturing business in western Sedgwick County.

Firefighters from Clearwater and the Sedgwick County Fire Department responded to the call of a person trapped shortly before 3 p.m. near Viola.

Crews say they arrived at Younger & Sons Manufacturing, 19223 K # 42 Hwy, Wednesday afternoon where a worker was stuck in a machine.

Investigators say other employees were able to reverse the device and free the man, but he died on the scene.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office will investigate the incident. They have not released the worker's name.

Younger & Sons says it is sad about the loss.
