TOPEKA, Kan. Photos from the Kansas Department of Corrections show the damage, but the department says no one was injured in a disturbance at the Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex in Topeka.
The KDOC says the Sunday evening disturbance involved 10 teen males ranging in age from 17 to 19. The damage was to three living units.
The state's only correctional facility has a population of 167, the KDOC says.
“This isn’t normal for our facility, the fact that no injuries occurred is a credit to the professionalism and response of our staff,” said Randy Bowman, Deputy Secretary of Juvenile Services, in a news release from the KDOC.
