DERBY, Kan. Eleven-year-old Alex Hernandez is taking his week off from school to hone his skills that put most bowlers to shame. The Derby boy got Spring Break off to a head-turning start by bowling a perfect 300 this week.
It was Hernandez's first perfect game. He accomplished the feat in Monday night's Scholarship League at Derby Bowl.
"I wasn't even thinking about the 300 until my eighth strike," he says.
The performance made his mother proud.
"My mom came over and started yelling at me and was crying and stuff," Hernandez says.
He says his second highest score was a 288. When he gets older, Hernandez says he wants to be a pro bowler.
