2 new Clydesdales join Wichita Police Department's Mounted Unit

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) The Wichita Police Department welcomed two new Clydesdales to the force.

The Wichita Police Foundation made the announcement on Facebook Thursday afternoon.

The police foundation said it not only met its goal of $20,000 but exceeded it which led to the purchase of two black Clydesdales, two saddles, and additional tack for the Mounted Unit.

The Clydesdales will begin training to replace two retiring horses on the WPD Mounted Unit, which is made up of a total of eight horses.
