3 months and still no word from Lucas Hernandez

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Three months have passed since five-year-old Lucas Hernandez disappeared, but the search to find him continues.

Capt. Brent Allred with the Wichita Police Department addressed the investigation Thursday morning. He said he knows several search groups are calling on the police department to do more, but they're doing what they can to help.

"The difficult part for us is providing the resources to do that, but if there's ways that we can help with those searches, we will. We have social media and ways to get that information out, and we would be willing to do that," said Allred.

He said the police, like everyone else, is disappointed they haven't located to the boy.

"We want to do what we can as a department and community to bring closure to this case, and I know it's difficult. We have a great community with great people that are out there every day looking for him and we continue to encourage that in hopes we find Lucas," said Allred.

He encouraged anyone searching for Lucas, who thinks they might find evidence to call 911. Tips can also be called into 316-268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.

"We still ask if they find any tips if they find anything to call us to let us know. We will follow up on those tips and those leads and continue the investigation," said Allred.

Person of interest

Emily Glass reported Lucas Hernandez missing from their home near Lincoln and Edgemoor on Feb. 17. She is his father's girlfriend. Glass told police she put Lucas down for a nap, then she laid down. She said when she woke up, the five-year-old was gone.

On Wednesday, a jury acquitted Glass of a child endangerment charge involving her one-year-old daughter.
