Mother, 2 children killed on I-35 in northeast Kansas crash

Authorities say four people have died in fwo separate crashes in the same northeast Kansas county.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that three of the victims were killed around 9 a.m. Tuesday about 4 miles (6.44 kilometers) north of the Williamsburg exit on Interstate 35 in Franklin County.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office reports a vehicle was driving northbound on I-35, went off the right side of the roadway, over-corrected, crossed through the median and entered the southbound lanes.

A vehicle traveling southbound T-boned the northbound vehicle.

The three people inside the northbound vehicle have been identified as Brieyori McGowan (25) and her children Kamarria Williams (7) and Nahajza Jackson (6) of Texas. All were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says the fourth victim, 47-year-old John Yaple, was killed about 3 ½ hours earlier when he drove into a tractor-trailer that jackknifed after hitting a deer. He was from Harrisonville, Missouri.
