Animals and Stay Behind Crew at Dolphin Research Center safe

A lot of people stayed behind in Florida to weather out Hurricane Irma. Many wanted to make sure their animals were able to sustain during the storm.

That includes the Stay Behind Crew at the Dolphin Research Center, located in the Florida Keys.

The center reports the dolphins, sea lions, birds and crew that stayed behind are all safe.

The crew spent most of Monday assessing the damage the organization suffered.

To track the dolphins during the storm, the center put pingers on the mammals and peduncle bands near their tails. The bands are bright orange and have an identification number on them as well as the center's phone number in case the dolphins get lost.
