ARK CITY, Kan. The Arkansas City Police Department says it filed charges on June 28 against a 19-year-old man in connection with the rape of a child younger than 14 years old.
Police say accusations against Dakota Gaskill, of Arkansas City, include one count of rape, two counts of rape of a child younger than 18 years old and two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy. These crimes are felonies.
Police say on May 30, a man contacted them to report that he observed a 19-year-old man and a 13-year-old girl having sex at an Arkansas City home.
Police identified Gaskill as a suspect in the case after interviewing him.
Police say officers previously arrested Gaskill on June 24. on suspicion of burglary and a misdemeanor count each of criminal damage to property and theft. The June 24 arrest concerns a June 22 burglary at the Paris Park Pool in Ark City, police say. They say two others were involved with that crime.
