An Augusta woman wants to give a special shoutout to the Augusta Police Department after she said some officers shared donuts with students at Ewalt Elementary School for their "Donuts with Dads" event.

Jordan Eck shared the wonderful story in a message to KWCH on Facebook.

She said her 7-year-old daughter, Sophia, didn't want to go to school on Wednesday because it was "Donuts with Dads" and "she’s spent the last 5 of her short 7 years of life with an inconsistent father."

She said when she finally got Sophia to school she was pleasantly surprised to walk in the door and see uniformed officers waiting to sit with kids without dads present.

She said an Augusta police officer walked right up to Sophia and introduced himself. That's when Sophia looked up at her mom and went off with the officer.

"So...THANK YOU officer....for showing up for my daughter today. For showing her that there are role model fathers/men out there who do just that. Show up I just wanted you to know you touch more lives than you could ever imagine. From the bottom of my heart and all those little lives you impacted today unknowingly...thank you!"
