WICHITA, Kan. UPDATE: Despite reports, Sen. Jerry Moran says he has not been offered the position of Secretary of Agriculture.
"I have been given a great opportunity to continue serving Kansans in the United States Senate and that will be my full focus," Moran says.
Sources tell The Hill that President-elect Donald Trump has asked Kansas Senator Jerry Moran to serve on his administration as his Agriculture Secretary.
Moran has held his seat in the Senate since 2010 when he took over for Sam Brownback after he was elected as governor. He was reelected to the Senate in the General Election last week.
Moran is the second Kansas lawmaker who has been asked to serve on Trump's administration. Rep. Mike Pompeo was offered and accepted a role as the next Director of the CIA if the senate confirms his appointment.
