On Tuesday, a judge denied Virgil "Dusty" Brewer's motion for self-defense immunity in the 2017 shooting death of Steven Myers. Brewer is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the case.

According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, the gun used to shoot Myers was owned by Brewer shot, and he did not have proper training to use it.

A less lethal weapon expert testified during Brewer's preliminary hearing that the beanbag round used in the shooting was 4-5 times faster than a standard round.

Since the incident, Kristin Myers, Steven's wife, says days have been difficult. She calls Tuesday's news a relief but says there is more work to be done.

"This is what we have asked for all along, just that the evidence be reviewed and that he would be held accountable for his actions as anyone would be held accountable for their actions," said Kristina.

She sais she hopes her husband's death brings more accountability and trainign for officers.
