UPDATE: Wichita police have released the name of the man whose body was found near Riverside Park over the weekend.

Police have identified the man as 59-year-old Jody Altum of Wichita.

Police say he was found near the Murdock Bridge on Sunday morning.

While no official cause of death has been released, police said they did not believe foul play was involved.

Wichita Police gave an update to the situation at Sunday's police briefing.

Sgt. Joe Kennedy said around 7:30 Sunday morning, a person walking along the river found a 59-year-old man unresponsive in the 400 block of West Murdock. The man was found on the ground next to a tree.

Kennedy said the person flagged down the Fire Department.

The unresponsive man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner's office was called out and transported the body to the Sedgwick County Regional Science Center to determine the cause of death.

"It appears right now that this is possibly a homeless person," Kennedy said.

Kennedy said the death does not appear to involved foul play. More information will be released after the investigation is complete.

Sedgwick County dispatchers confirm a body was found near Riverside Park Sunday morning.

Details surrounding the death are unclear at this time.

Dispatchers would not say if a submersion call from early this morning is related, but they didn't say it was not related.

Rachel Skytta is headed to the scene and will bring any updates both on-air and online.
