Wichita Police gave an update to the situation at Sunday's police briefing.

Sgt. Joe Kennedy said around 7:30 Sunday morning, a person walking along the river found a 59-year-old man unresponsive in the 400 block of West Murdock. The man was found on the ground next to a tree.

Kennedy said the person flagged down the Fire Department.

The unresponsive man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner's office was called out and transported the body to the Sedgwick County Regional Science Center to determine the cause of death.

"It appears right now that this is possibly a homeless person," Kennedy said.

Kennedy said the death does not appear to involved foul play. More information will be released after the investigation is complete.
