CDC calls for CBD oil regulations

U.S. health officials want states to regulate cannabidiol (CBD) oil because officials learned dozens got sick by using a fake product.

CBD oil is derived from cannabis, but does not have the THC to get its users high. The product is used to treat pain and to fight seizures.

found a synthetic product -- falsely labeled as CBD oil -- made 52 people in Utah sick between last October and January.

The CDC says states should set up regulatory systems and standards to ensure CBD products are safe.

Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer earlier this month signed a bill that makes CBD oil legal in the state.
