Car strikes cow in Reno County

Two people in Reno County escaped serious injury after striking a cow in the road late Monday.

The Reno County Sheriff's Office says emergency crews were called to Parallel Road and Valley Pride Road for a report of a vehicle striking a cow.

When emergency crews got there, they found vehicle with extensive front-end damage with the airbags deployed. They found a 31-year-old man and 28-year-old woman standing near the vehicle looking for their dog, which had run off after the crash.

The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment, the man was not hurt.

Both were cited for not wearing seat belts.

The owner of the cow was able to remove the cow from the scene.

The Sheriff's Office did not indicate whether the dog was found.
