Cat recovering after being dragged by car
The Wichita Animal Action League says a cat is recovering after being dragged by a car then left to die in the road.
In a Facebook post, the organization said his bandages are off and his wounds clean.
"Our kitty - he's actually doing really well this afternoon... he's actually really awake and alert."
WAAL says the cat is eating, drinking and showing signs of recovery at the hospital.
Bandaged up and sedated. Sarah Coffman with the Wichita Animal Action League says a cat is recovering from more than a rough ride.
She says he was likely tied to the back of a car and dragged.
"He was found at 31st and West Street. A good samaritan found him and called animal control," said Coffman.
Coffman says he was found Friday night. When he was brought in, he had road rash on his legs and belly, exposed tissue, flees and emaciated.
"Even if what happened to his paws and tail was an accident, he still shouldn't be this skinny, so he has not been treated kindly and we really need to find out who did that," said Coffman.
The vet had to amputate his tail because it was broken and cut open. Coffman says the person who did this is a coward. She says cruelty to animals leads to other crimes and it needs to stop.
While this little guy doesn't have an official name yet, he's already getting a lot of love.
"He needs someone to spoil him and make up for this," said Coffman.
Coffman says if the person is found they could face animal cruelty or animal neglect charges- which could result in a felony. The cat should be up for adoption after some recovering.
