GARDEN CITY, Kan. Construction next Wednesday begins on the U.S. 50/83/400 bypass in Garden City, one of the busiest in southwest Kansas.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says crews will replace more than three miles of concrete and pavement due to age and deteriorating condition. The majority to that concrete is 35 years old, K-DOT says.
Once complete, the project should make traffic run smoother, including new turning lanes. A public meeting Tuesday gave residents a chance to learn details about the project and to ask questions about the work ahead.
The project is slated for completion in December. You can find detours and follow updates on construction
here, on K-DOT's website.
