WICHITA, Kan. The Kansas Department for Children and Families Friday (Sept. 20) is hosting Child Support Amnesty Day to help Sedgwick County families get back on track with child support payments.
From 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Atwater Neighborhood Resource Center, 2755 E. 19th Street North, in Wichita, parents behind on child support payments can clear bench warrants by either paying two months' worth of their obligation or $500 per case, whichever is less.
"The biggest hesitation and fear is that they’ll be arrested," said Kelly O'Malia, the Community Outreach Coordinator with the Kansas Department of Children and Families ahead a previous Amnesty Day event in 2017. "They don’t have anything to be worried about."
