Update (Monday 10 p.m.): Hundreds showed up to remember 11-year-old Shelby Cramb and to pray for her family and friends.

Church goer Mary Morrow says it was an emotional evening.

"You could hear a lot of youth crying," she says. "I'm sure it's just a shock, of course, and there was a girl behind me just sobbing, but I know God will see them through."

Update (Monday, 5:30 p.m.): Pathway Church says it is grieving the loss of an 11-year-old girl who drowned while at a church-sanctioned event.

Larry Wren, the church's Executive Pastor said the church's middle school ministry was hosting a lake party when Shelby Cramb went missing and was later found deceased in the water.

Wren said Shelby loved Jesus and others. He said the church's main focus now is bringing hope and healing to Shelby's family.

He said the church is now reviewing safety procedures and guidelines for the future events.

A prayer gathering was held Monday evening at the church.

A memorial service will be held in coming days.

An 11-year-old girl was found dead in a pond in northwest Wichita Sunday night.

The Wichita Fire Department says the parents went to pick a child up from a church party at 4:15 p.m. and reported her missing.

Two hours later, the girl was found in the pond near the 3200 block of North Ridgeport.

Firefighters say she was found about 10 feet away from shore.

Officials say it was an accidental drowning, and police are now investigating.

We're told more than 100 children attended the party.

Sunday night, Wichita's Pathway Church identified the girl as Shelby Cramb. The church says Cramb drowned at its annual Middle School Lake Party.

The church sent the following message to its congregation:

Pathway Family, Tragically, this afternoon (Sunday Aug 27), at our annual Middle School Lake Party, a young woman named Shelby Cramb drowned. We cannot fully express our regret for this horrific accident, and while we know that Shelby is now in Heaven with Jesus, it does not diminish the pain of losing her. Tomorrow evening at 6:30 pm (Monday Aug 28), we'll be holding a special prayer meeting for friends and family at our Westlink Campus (Pathway Church Westlink, 2001 N Maize Rd, Wichita) to lift up her parents, Andy and Joanna, and her younger brother, Gavin as they deal with this crisis.
