Colby woman wins 'Working Woman of the Year' award

In her 80's, Joan Ziegler shows no signs of slowing down.

Joan and Leroy Ziegler started Leroy's Printing in 1964. Their daughter owns it now, but you'll still see them working everyday. The Ziegler's say for now, the plan is not to retire.

Joan says they are wired to work.

"I can't imagine not seeing people everyday," said Joan.

People are her passion. She treats strangers like family. That's one of several reasons why she won the working woman of the year award. Joan has also served on numerous boards in the community and likes going to events and supporting local businesses.

Joan says there are a lot of people in her life that made her the way she is. She says her mother taught her about hard work. That's how she landed in Colby where she met Leroy.

"The first date I had with her I was going to kiss her goodnight and she slapped me. My friend asked me what I thought of the date and I said I think she's just ornery enough I might marry her," said Leroy.

The two have worked side by side for 54 years, still to this day without any arguments.

Now, four generations of their family greet customers at Leroy's Printing everyday.
