2 injured in crash on Highway 50 between Yoder and Haven

RENO COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) Update:

Two people suffered injuries in a crash Tuesday morning between Yoder and Haven in Reno County.

Sheriff Darrian Campbell said around 7:30 a.m. deputies were called to an accident on US Highway 50 near the intersection of Kent Road.

Eyewitnesses said a small white SUV and small dark-colored sedan were both going eastbound on the highway when the driver of white SUV started driving erratically and weaving in and out of traffic. The driver was passing the dark-colored sedan when she struck an oncoming tractor-trailer traveling westbound on the highway.

"There were people on the scene that identified her actually passing on the right, on the shoulder, and kind of driving erratic prior to the accident," said Sheriff Campbell.

After striking the tractor-trailer, the SUV crashed into the sedan.

The woman driving the white SUV was flown to Wichita in serious condition. The truck driver sustained no injuries, and the driver of the sedan was taken to the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
