Butler County Sheriff: No foul play suspected after woman found dead in Towanda pool

TOWANDA, Kan. (KWCH) Update 2:30 p.m.:

The Butler County Sheriff's Office says at this time, no foul play is suspected after a 41-year-old woman was found dead in a pool in Towanda.

The sheriff's office says a resident of the home discovered the woman, dressed in a swimsuit, floating in the pool. Emergency crews pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

Detectives with the Butler County Sheriff's Office contacted the county coroner's office and an autopsy will be performed, the sheriff's office say.

The sheriff's office says it is not releasing the woman's name until all of her family's been notified.


Emergency crews are responding to a report of a woman found dead in a Towanda pool.

Dispatchers were called to a drowning Thursday around 10 a.m. in the 500 block of east High street.
