Firefighters extinguish fire at Sedgwick County Courthouse

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Firefighters battled an early-morning fire at the courthouse in downtown Wichita.

Multiple fire crews responded just before 10 a.m. Saturday for a report of a fire at the Sedgwick County Courthouse on 525 N. Main St.

When crews arrived, they found a fire on the fourth floor of the building which houses the 18th Judicial District Family Law Self-Help Center as well as Family Law Courts.

Firefighters were able to locate and extinguish the fire within 30 minutes.

"Crews showed up and got water on the fire. We evacuated the building," said Joshua Pavelski, WFD.

There were no injuries.

No word yet on what started the fire. Sedgwick County is working toward clean-up and will be fully operational for business on Tuesday.

The Wichita Fire Department and Sedgwick County Fire District 1 are investigating the cause of the fire.
