DB Schenker announces plans to lay off 255 employees in Wichita

DB Schenker, the lead logistics provider at the Spirit Distribution Center in Wichita, announced plans to play off 255 employees on Wednesday.
Schenker provides centralized distribution location, storage and production line-side delivery for Spirit AeroSystems.
The company released the following statement:
"DB Schenker will be reducing its workforce at the Wichita, Kansas
distribution center. Notice was issued under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act on January 20, 2020. Approximately 255 employees will be affected by the change. DB Schenker is taking this action to adjust to order demand by our client. We are committed to working through this transition and supporting our employees in a
manner consistent with our core values."
Spirit began laying off 2,800 employees Wednesday as a result of the temporary shutdown of production on the 737 Max.
The Workforce Alliance tells Eyewitness News the halted program has impacted 500 employees outside of Spirit.
