The earthquake felt by many in south central Kansas and even some areas farther north, including Great Bend, registered as a magnitude-4.4 about 9.3 miles southeast of Medford, Okla.
The earthquake registered at 3:33 p.m. Within a couple minutes of it happening, KWCH received several calls and messages from people who felt the shake.
About 3:30 p.m. Friday, many in south central Kansas reported feeling an earthquake.
We're working to confirm the magnitude of the quake, as well as its origin. Earlier this afternoon, small earthquakes registered near Cushing, Okla. None of the three previous quakes were strong enough to be felt in Kansas, but it's possible a stronger quake from this location is the source of what we felt.
