ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (KWCH) Tennessee authorities are on the scene of a plane crash involving semi-retired NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife.
WJHL News Channel 11, out of Johnson City, Tenn., reports the couple's private plane ran off the end of the runway at the Elizabethton Airport and caught fire, according to local authorities.
Kelley Earnhardt, Dale's sister, posted to Twitter that two pilots on boad the plane, her brother, sister-in-law and neice are all safe and being taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
I can confirm Dale, Amy & Isla along with his two pilots were involved in a crash in Bristol TN this afternoon. Everyone is safe and has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation. We have no further information at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
