The website says Kansas can expect its coldest day on January 6, 2018 at 31°F and the darkest day on December 20 (2.1kWh).

"Therefore the most miserable day of the year on December 28th (based on an average of the coldest and darkest day)," states the sleep site.

The data is taken from weather stats from the last 30 years that pinpoint which day each state is forecast to experience the coldest temperature and least amount of solar energy, or the amount of visible light and UV reaching the ground.
