Chief Meteorologist Ross Janssen says that the strong cold front is still expected to pass through on Thursday, bringing an early taste of winter to the area.
South winds will still be rather strong into Wednesday morning. Lows will be in the 40s and 50s with increasing clouds. Chances for rain showers are on the way for Wednesday morning in central and eastern Kansas, but the afternoon will be dry. Highs will climb into the 70s and lower 80s.
The cold front will be into western Kansas by daybreak on Thursday. It reaches Wichita around lunchtime, with temperatures falling during the afternoon. Strong north winds will make it feel colder. Some light snow is expected in western Kansas Thursday night, but accumulations will be minimal.
A hard freeze is on the way for western Kansas by Friday and Saturday mornings.
