Derby couple killed in New Mexico motorcycle crash

COOLIDGE, N.M. (KWCH) A Derby couple was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday night (March 10) in New Mexico.

The McKinley County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened around 7 p.m. on Interstate 40 near Coolidge.

An eyewitness saw the couple attempt to take the exit, hit the gravel and lose control of the motorcycle.

Both were pronounced dead on the scene.

The sheriff's office identified the victims as David Brainard and Renita Brainard.

The couple's son Sean Brainard says his parents were in New Mexico for his dad's job.

His mother was an account and his father worked for civilian companies since 2007 doing the same type of work.

The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help with funeral expenses.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday (March 19) at 10:30 a.m. at the Pleasantview Baptist Church (1335 N Buckner) in Derby.
