Dillons to charge fee for cash back at checkout
Starting March 4, Dillons customers who want to get money back with their purchases will be charged a fee.
Sheila Lowrie, a spokesperson for the grocer said customers can now get as much as $300 back in cash from their debit cards when making a purchase at Dillons.
A tiered service fee will apply as follows:
$1 to $99.99 = 50 cents
$100 to $199.99 = $1.50
$200 to $300 = $3.00
Lowrie said the program was tested in Lawrence and Topeka before being introduced to the remaining stores. She said it was successful.
"We found that more than 90% of customers were able to gain access to their cash for just 50-cents... which is far less than typical ATM fees," said Lowrie in an email to Eyewitness News.
You may have heard about other Kroger stores banning purchases with VISA credit cards. Lowrie said that rule will not affect Dillons customers.
