Eyewitness News has confirmed that Doug Herrman has died. He was the adoptive father of Adam Herrman, and a longtime suspect in his disappearance.

Adam Herrman was last seen alive in 1999, but not reported missing for 10 years.

His adoptive parents, Doug and Valerie Herrman have been considered suspects by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office since it was discovered that Adam was missing.

They served some time in prison for continuing to cash state aid checks after Adam’s disappearance, but have not been charged with his disappearance or presumed death.

Valerie Herrman tells Eyewitness News anchor Michael Schwanke that Doug was scheduled for surgery to correct blood clot issues in his legs, but died at the age of 61 in their home in Grove, Oklahoma Wednesday night.

She says his health has been failing for several years now.

Although Doug and Valerie have refused to talk to investigators, Doug sat down with Michael Schwanke a couple years ago and denied having any involvement in his son’s disappearance.
