A Wichita woman is honored for her efforts aimed at helping the environment.

At a ceremony in Washington, D.C., Nancy Larson and the Kansas State University Pollution Prevention Institute received the Environmental Protection Agency's award for outstanding accomplishments of a state small business environmental assistance provider.

As director of the Pollution Prevention Institute, Larson helps businesses comply with federal regulations

"Depending on (the) business and what processes they have, they may face a lot of complicated regulations and we help them navigate and simplify those," Larson says.

She says the effort intends to help businesses better work with the government and and locals to better understand regulations.

Larson received the award during the EPA administrator's 28th Annual Business Program Awards ceremony.

Nancy Larson is the wife of KWCH Storm Team 12 Meteorologist Mark Larson.
