WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - UPDATE (5:11 PM) The Wichita Police Department has confirmed a 2-year-old boy died this afternoon, after an accidental drowning in a swimming pool.
Officials say they responded to a drowning call at 11:30 today in the 2200 block of South Linden. Upon arrival, officers located the boy who had been pulled from a swimming pool and was unresponsive. The boy died from his injuries on the scene.
The WPD' investigation found the boy and his parents were temporarily staying at the home of the residents. The boy crawled through a dog-door and fell into the pool. The boy was found by his father who pulled him out of the pool and began lifesaving techniques.
The incident is still under investigation.
UPDATE (1:15 PM) Police say a child was hurt in what they're calling a home accident.
Crews were called to the scene of a drowning earlier this afternoon and at the time dispatchers said one person was in critical condition.
No other details are available at this time.
Dispatchers confirm at least one person was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a responders arrived on the scene of a drowning call in SE Wichita in the 2200 block of S. Linden.
