Family: Turon man had West Nile Virus when he died last month
Wednesday night, the family of a Turon man who died last month say test results came back, showing he had West Nile Virus.
Last month, we told you about several cases of the virus around the Turon area. At least one of those cases contributed to the death of Nolan Zink, also of Turon. Zink, a 72-year-old farmer, died in late August, about a week after he was diagnosed with West Nile Virus.
The latest case, confirmed Wednesday night, is a separate case from Zink's West Nile diagnosis.
The KDHE lists 22 cases of the West Nile Virus in Kansas this year, but that number could increase. FactFinder 12 checked with state officials who say it takes more than just a positive test result to document a case.
