At Field Station: Dinosaurs in Derby, you'll see more than 30 animatronic, lifelike creatures from the prehistoric past.

The dinosaur-themed park opens this weekend in Derby and ahead of that, crews spent this week preparing for an expected 10,000 visitors.

This preparation includes work down a five-page checklist. This list includes everything from cleaning to putting the finishing touches on the dinosaurs.

"We've worked with the top paleontologists to ensure that the way these have been built is as close as possible to what scientists currently believe the size they would be (and) the look they would be, "says Field Station: Dinosaurs Park Manager Lon Smith.

The educational theme park also offers Jurassic (miniature) golf, a rope course at its Challenge Dome and different educational shows that play throughout the day. The park is geared toward children ages 3 to 11, but says it's a place adults should also enjoy.

"I think they're just going to be fascinated and excited," Smith says.

The park's address is 2999 N. Rock Road (in Derby). You can learn more about Field Station: Dinosaurs, including details about its features, costs and hours of operation at the park's
