WFD: Welder sparks two-alarm building fire in S. Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Update:

Wichita firefighters say a welder started a fire at a South Wichita business.

Fire investigators say the man was welding inside a building near Harry and Santa Fe when he accidentally caught some other material in the building on fire.

The fire spread and caused damage throughout the building.

Damage to the building and contents is estimated at around $300,000.

No one was hurt.

Wichita firefighters are on the scene of a two-alarm building fire.

Crews were called out to the scene shortly before 3 p.m. on Thursday near Harry and St. Francis.

The Wichita Fire Department tweeted out that people should avoid the area.
