First day of school for Wichita Public School students
Thousands of Wichita Public School students are headed back to class as the 2018-2019 school year kicks off Wednesday.
Wichita students will start school 10 minutes later than last year.
The school board voted to change start times to the top of the hour in an effort to save money.
Wichita schools will start at 7, 8, or 9 and students will have an extra 10 minutes before the first bell rings. Dismissal will be at 2:30,3:10 and 4:10.
Students will get out 20 minutes earlier than last year so the school year will be 190 days with shorter days overall.
