Future of Wichita's Towne West Square unknown

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Towne West Square in west Wichita could soon be headed toward foreclosure.

Washington Prime Group owns the shopping center at I-235 and Maple and says it will turn the mall over to Wells Fargo.

According to WIBW, Washington Prime filed paperwork with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday saying it would save around $3.5 million from its “planned lender transition” of Towne West Plaza in Wichita and West Ridge Mall in Topeka.

The company also said a number vacancies at the malls contributed to the decision.

Washington Prime said the transition should be complete for Towne West in July and October for the Topeka mall.
