Future of Wichita's Towne West Square unknown

Towne West Square in west Wichita could soon be headed toward foreclosure.
Washington Prime Group owns the shopping center at I-235 and Maple and says it will turn the mall over to Wells Fargo.

, Washington Prime filed paperwork with the
on Wednesday saying it would save around $3.5 million from its “planned lender transition” of Towne West Plaza in Wichita and West Ridge Mall in Topeka.
The company also said a number vacancies at the malls contributed to the decision.
Washington Prime said the transition should be complete for Towne West in July and October for the Topeka mall.
