Garden City student arrested in school threat case

A 13-year-old Garden City student is in custody accused of making threats toward Horace Good Middle School.

The Garden City Police Department says they received a report of a possible threat. They then notified the school district and launched an investigation.

Police say their investigation revealed that the 13-year-old student had made several verbal threats toward the school.

The student was arrested and booked into the Southwest Kansas Juvenile Detention Center accused of Criminal Threat.

The student's name has not been released.

The Garden City Police Department urges parents to monitor their child's social media accounts, and remind children to report safety-related concerns to the school or to police.

This is the fourth time in as many weeks that a student has been accused of making threats toward the school.
