Update: Gun left in bathroom at WSU returned to its owner

A gun found inside a bathroom of a building at Wichita State University last week has been returned to its owner.

WSU says the gun found inside a bathroom of Jabara Hall Friday belongs to an employee at the university. That employee provided proof of ownership to get the gun back from university police, the university says.


Wichita State University police are investigating after a gun is found on campus.

A WSU spokesperson tells us an employee found the gun in a holster Friday afternoon in a second-floor bathroom of Jabara Hall.

The spokesperson says the gun was turned over to the university police department. They do not know who the weapon belongs to.

Anyone older than 21 is legally allowed to carry a concealed weapon in campus buildings that don't have adequate security. This law went into effect July 1.

The WSU Police Department says it is working to find the gun's owner and check its registration.
