Meteorologist Sarah Fletcher says the heat is here to stay through the weekend, but rain chances will return to parts of Kansas over the next few days.
Tonight, the sky will stay mostly clear and lows will drop into the upper 60s to low 70s. Wind will be in from the southeast around 5 to 15 mph.
Tomorrow, the sunshine will return and it’s going to stay hot. Highs will reach the low to mid 90s in the west, the upper 90s to low 100s in central Kansas. The wind will be in from the south around 5 to 15 mph.
By Thursday evening, a few showers and storms will be possible in northwestern Kansas. These will come to an end overnight, moving to the northeast.
There will be another chance for rain, once again in western Kansas, on Friday. This will start in the northwest Friday afternoon, with isolated showers and storms possible for the rest of the western half of the state Friday evening. That chance for rain will come to an end by early Saturday morning.
Highs will stay in the mid to upper 90s through the weekend, with more chances for rain as the weekend wraps up.
A cold front will move into northwestern Kansas Sunday afternoon, moving to the southeast. Showers and a few storms will be possible as the front moves in. This will be in western Kansas Sunday evening, into north central Kansas overnight, and into south central Kansas by Monday afternoon.
Highs will get a little cooler behind this front next week, into the low 90s.
