Heavy police, FBI presence in E. Wichita part of 'ongoing investigation'

UPDATE: The FBI confirms they have had "a lawful presence at several locations in the Wichita area." They also say it's part of an ongoing investigation.

An FBI spokesperson would not say what led to the presence, but did say there is no threat to the public.

While Wichita police officers were on scene assisting the FBI, the Wichita Police Department referred Eyewitness News back to the FBI for information.

Several law enforcement agencies are on the scene of a situation near First Street and Chautauqua this morning.

Eyewitness News spoke with an FBI representative at the scene. That representative could not give any information about what was going on, but said there is no threat to the public.

The Wichita Police Department is also on the scene. We reached out to WPD's public information officer who is working to gather more information.
