It's that time of year to celebrate the holidays with your family and friends.

If you're looking for things to bring you holiday cheer, we've put together a list of events taking place in and around the Wichita area.

Botanica Illuminations
Now thru Dec. 31 (5:30-8:30 p.m.)
Adults $10/Children (3-12) $7/Members $7
With more than one million lights, Illuminations is Wichita’s premier light display taking place every year at Botanica. Enjoy tour themed gardens, hear live music and visit with Santa. Illuminations runs Nov. 24-Dec. 31 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. excluding Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Lights on St. Paul
Now thru Dec. 31
Donation Nights – Sundays - Thursdays – 5:30-9 p.m./Christmas Eve – 5:30-11:30 p.m.
Fridays & Saturdays – 5:30-10:00 p.m. - $10 per carload or pre-purchase admission for $8 at any Wichita QT location or here
Annual drive-through holiday lights display with more than 1.9 M lights. Major fundraiser for The Arc of Sedgwick County to support more than 500 programs and services for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. $10 admission on Friday and Saturday nights. Donations all other nights.

Lights on TEXAS 11603 W Texas St.
Now thru Dec. 31
The display features a nice mix of more than 300,000 traditional and new led lights and it's computer animated. Many of the items in the Display are a tradition of the Wichita area due to the fact they were at 17th and Park Place for 25 years on display. Santa is here on Christmas Eve with candy canes. He appears some Saturdays throughout late November and December from 6-9 p.m.

Old Cowtown Museum
When the weather outside is frightful, Cowtown’s lamp-lit, carol-filled streets will warm you up! There’s something magical about bundling up, stepping into the cold, and enjoying a warm cup of hot chocolate with family and friends. Santa’s doesn’t mind if visitors stop by as he finishes the last toys for all the good girls and boys. Regular admission prices apply: $7.75/adults, $6.50/seniors (ages 62+), $6/youth (ages 12-17), $5.50/kids (ages 5-11), kids 4 & under FREE! Cowtown Members get in FREE!

Sensitive Santa

Towne West Square Mall
Sensitive Santa is an event for families with children with all spectrums of special needs, providing a more controlled and welcoming environment to visit The Santa Photo Experience. Simple adjustments are made to reduce sensory stimuli (muted lights, music and waiting to visit Santa at activity tables) to create a calming environment. Each family or group is asked to RSVP in advance by reserving one ticket.

Lights On The River
Sunday, Dec. 3 (4-7 p.m.)
Wichita Boathouse
A fun, free, family event on the Arkansas River! Lights on the River is happening before, during and after the Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting. Trolleys will be available to take you from The Boathouse to Old Town Square for the Tree Lighting Ceremony and back to the Wichita Boathouse for the Lights on the River Launch! Purchase floating lights for the floating light launch, enjoy wagon rides, visit with Santa, listen to holiday music, partake in yummy food from local food trucks, and much more!

Mayor Longwell's 2017 Christmas Tree Lighting
Sunday, Dec. 3 (6-6:30 p.m.)
Old Town Square
Come join Mayor Longwell and the Wichita City Council as they welcome the holidays to Wichita by lighting a special tree in Old Town Square, and lighting up the city with holiday joy! It's rumored that the jolly elf himself - Santa Claus, not the Mayor - may even make an appearance!

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

Celebrate the Christmas season with your family or school at one of the performances of the Best Christmas Pageant Ever. This holiday show has been performed by WCTDC for 35 years with 100 children/adults from the local area performing this holiday classic. Shows are available to the public or to school groups. Holiday Lights Ride by Bike Walk Wichita
Sunday, Dec. 10 (6-8 p.m.)
Il Vicinio, 4817 E. Douglas
College Hill Neighborhood is known for world-class Christmas decorations, so Bike Walk Wichita will meet in the back parking lot behind Il Vicino and roll out around 6:15 p.m. a 60-90 minute night ride. Decorate your bike to join in the spirit of the ride! Lights are required and helmets are encouraged. The will take place if the streets are dry and it's 25 degrees or above, including wind chill. This is a kid-friendly event.

Storytime Village Cookies with Santa
Friday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m.
McAdams Recreation Center
There will be FREE cookies & hot cocoa, story time with Santa, an FREE book for each child, Christmas craft activity, and photo with Santa (one photo per family, $5 per photo). Enter our coloring contest to cool prizes visit to download page. Winner announced at the event.

The NEW Nutcracker
Performances: Friday, Dec. 15, 7p; Sat., Dec. 16, 7:00pm & Sun., Dec. 17, 2:00pm
Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center
This new Nutcracker Ballet celebrates the 44th season of Ballet Wichita and is Directed and Choreographed by New York's Sean McLeod! The show is suitable for all ages 3 YEARS AND UP!

Holiday Ornament Decoration
Saturday, Dec. 16 (11 a.m. to Noon)
As part of the new JCPenney Kids Zone program, kids are invited into all JCPenney stores this Saturday to decorate a holiday ornament. This fun (and FREE!) craft will take place in the kids' department. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
