Chief Meteorologist Ross Janssen says that powerful winds should continue in Kansas through Thursday afternoon before beginning to back off Thursday night. Some areas will still have gusts on Thursday between 50-60 mph.
Rain showers in Kansas will gradually come to an end, but there is a chance for some snow showers across western Kansas into early Thursday. Accumulation will be minimal, but some places may pick up an inch or two. Low temperatures early Thursday will be in the 30s and 40s and afternoon highs will only reach the 30s/40s.
We expect the winds to back down some Thursday night with clearing skies. Friday will begin to calm down a bit with sunshine and highs near 50.
The upcoming weekend should have nice weather with calmer winds.
